How do I install FactChecker Pro?

Do I need to create an account?

You can use basic credibility scoring without an account. However, creating a free account unlocks your personal Transparency Score, claim submission history, badges, and leaderboard access.

How do I register?

Click the FactChecker Pro icon in your browser toolbar, then click 'Sign In / Register'. Enter a username, email address, and password. Your account is created instantly.

Can I use FactChecker Pro on any website?

The extension works on any publicly accessible webpage including news sites, social media platforms, blogs, and online publications.

How does claim detection work?

The extension scans the visible text of the page you are viewing and identifies statements that can be verified — such as statistical claims, quotes attributed to public figures, and factual assertions. These are highlighted for your review.

What is a Credibility Score?

A Credibility Score is a numerical rating (0-100) assigned to a source based on factors including its accuracy history, known bias indicators, and fact-check records from independent verification organisations.

What is a Transparency Score?

Your personal Transparency Score reflects your fact-checking activity and accuracy over time. It increases when you submit claims that are verified as accurate and decreases when submissions are found to be incorrect.

How do I submit a claim for fact-checking?

Highlight any text on a webpage, right-click, and select 'Submit to FactChecker Pro'. Alternatively, open the extension panel and use the Submit Claim feature from the dashboard.

Will FactChecker Pro slow down my browser?

The extension is optimised for minimal performance impact. Analysis runs in the background using efficient text processing. Most users report

What data does FactChecker Pro collect?

We collect your username, email address (hashed password), submitted claims, and anonymised browsing activity used for credibility analysis. We do not sell your data to third parties. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Email info@factcheckerpro.net with your registered email address, and we will delete your account and all associated data within 30 days.

Is my password stored securely?

Yes. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage. We never store plain-text passwords and they are never transmitted in readable form.

Can I use FactChecker Pro without sharing my browsing data?

Browsing data (page content) is the core input that powers credibility analysis. Without it, the extension cannot function. However, this data is processed solely for fact-checking purposes and is never sold or shared commercially.

The extension is not responding ,what should I do?

Try these steps in order: (1) Reload the webpage. (2) Click the FactChecker Pro icon to reactivate the panel. (3) Go to chrome://extensions and disable then re-enable the extension. (4) Restart Chrome.

I cannot sign in — what should I do?

Ensure you are using the correct email or username and password. If you have forgotten your password, contact info@factcheckerpro.net to request a reset.

The credibility score is not appearing — why?

Scores may not appear on pages with very little text content, paywalled articles, or pages that block content scripts. Try navigating to a full news article and reopening the panel.

Accuracy & Editorial Independence

FactChecker Pro does not express political opinions or editorial bias. Credibility scores are generated algorithmically based on publicly available fact-check records and accuracy metrics. We do not accept payment to influence credibility ratings. Our methodology is independent and applied consistently across all sources regardless of political affiliation or editorial stance.

Data Collection & Privacy

We collect only the data necessary to provide our service: account credentials, submitted claims, and page content for analysis. We do not sell user data to advertisers or third parties. All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS and passwords are stored using bcrypt hashing. Users may request deletion of their data at any time. User Conduct

Users agree not to misuse FactChecker Pro by submitting deliberately false claims, attempting to manipulate credibility scores, using the extension to harass or target individuals, or circumventing rate limits or security measures. Violations may result in account suspension or permanent removal.

Content & Intellectual Property

FactChecker Pro analyses third-party web content solely for the purpose of credibility assessment. We do not reproduce, republish, or claim ownership of any content we analyse. All trademarks and content remain the property of their respective owners. Our analysis results are original work generated by our system.

Service Availability

We aim to maintain high availability of the FactChecker Pro service but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Scheduled maintenance, server updates, or unforeseen technical issues may cause temporary downtime. We will communicate planned maintenance in advance where possible.

Changes to Policies

We reserve the right to update these policies at any time. Users will be notified of significant changes via email and through an in-extension notification. Continued use of FactChecker Pro after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policies.

Governing Law
